ACCESS

WICKED at the Apollo Victoria Theatre is accessible to disabled and deaf patrons and we are committed to making your experience as easy and enjoyable as possible. Should you have any specific requirements or questions or would like to arrange any facilities in advance, please call the administration department on 020 7834 6318.

How to Book

Disabled and Deaf concessions can be booked by calling the Apollo Victoria Theatre Box Office only on 020 7828 7074, or email apollovic.bookings@livenation.co.uk. Please note that disabled and deaf concession bookings cannot be made via the Internet, and are subject to availability.

Wheelchair Spaces

The Apollo Victoria Theatre has 4 wheelchair spaces available in the Circle seating area. They are on the two side blocks of seats, row F. To reserve a wheelchair space call the Apollo Victoria Theatre Box Office on 020 7828 7074. Box Office opening hours for advance bookings are 9am - 6pm Monday - Saturday. We would recommend you book wheelchair spaces well in advance of your chosen performance as space and safety constraints restrict us to 4 per performance. Any seat in the Circle is available for people who would like to transfer from a wheelchair into a seat, but please note that these seats, other than row F, are laid out over several steps.

Theatre Access: The wheelchair accessible entrance is via the Vauxhall Bridge Road entrance of the Theatre. A wheelchair lift provides level access to the Accessible Toilets and foyer facilities [bar, merchandise etc.]. Upon arrival, please notify the ushers who will organise the operation of the lift for you, but please arrive no earlier than one hour before the performance. Another wheelchair lift gives access to the wheelchair area in the circle.

The theatre's main entrance is on Wilton Road [directly opposite Victoria mainline and Underground Station] and is up four steps to the main foyer. From here there are three flights of steps down to the Stalls totalling 29 steps, seven steps to the first landing, 16 steps to the second and then six more steps. Once down to the stalls all seats are reached via a gentle ramp. The circle is also reached from the main foyer, up a straight flight of 13 steps. From here there are 14 steps down to row A. Customers with mobility problems are advised to sit in the circle.

There are currently no low counters at the bars or confectionery kiosks, however, staff are available to take orders and will bring them to your seats if necessary.

Assisted Performances

We regularly schedule Sign Interpreted, Audio Described and Stagetext captioned performances of WICKED. Please note that it is advisable to book for these performances well in advance as tickets are subject to availability.

Facilities for People with Visual Impairments

We regularly schedule audio described (Vocaleyes) performances and are currently planning our 2008 schedule.

To enquire about tickets for these performances please call the Box Office.

Audio description in theatre is a live verbal commentary on the visual elements of a production, delivered as a performance unfolds, through a discreet headset. One week before the performance, every visually impaired person who has pre-booked will receive a tape with detailed information on the production, such as sets and costumes. This tape also provides details on how to get to the theatre and orientation around it. Guide Dogs are welcome in the auditorium or can alternatively be left in the care of theatre staff. If you intend to bring a guide dog, please state so at the time of booking. The Apollo Victoria Theatre currently has a limited number of large print and Braille programmes available. Both programmes can be provided if requested in advance by contacting the Front of House Manager on 020 7834 6318

Assisted Hearing Facilities

We regularly schedule sign interpreted performances and are currently planning our 2008 schedule.

To enquire about tickets for these performances please call the Box Office.

Throughout the performance, a qualified theatre sign interpreter stands on the left of the stage and uses sign language to relay music and words to deaf and hearing impaired patrons, all of whom are seated within easy viewing distance of both the stage and interpreter.

Stage Captioned performances are also scheduled in association with Stagetext. We are currently planning our 2008 schedule.

To enquire about tickets for these performances please call the Box Office or email apollovic.bookings@livenation.co.uk

Captioning converts the spoken word into text, which is displayed on a caption unit viewed by the audience. As the captions roll, (delivered live, from a laptop computer by a trained captioner), audience members can follow what is said, when it is said and by whom. Sound effects and off-stage noises are also included. The theatre has an infrared loop system for people with hearing impairments. There are two styles of unit, which can be borrowed for the duration of the performance. One unit is for hearing aid users (the hearing aid needs to be switched to the "T" position) and the other is an "in ear" unit for patrons who do not wear hearing aids. To obtain a headset, please contact a member of theatre staff upon arrival - a £20 deposit is required which will be refunded upon return of the headset.
